نماینده فائو در جمهوری اسلامی ایران بر موضع این نهاد سازمان ملل متحد در زمینه حمایت از کشورهای عضو برای توسعه و اتخاذ سیاست‌ها و برنامه‌های ترویج‌کننده نظام‌های کشاورزی پایدار و غنابخشی تنوع‌زیستی خاک تأکید کرد.
به گزارش پایگاه خبری صنعت غذا و کشاورزی، نمایندگی سازمان خواربار و کشاورزی ملل متحد (فائو)، با مشارکت وزارت جهاد کشاورزی، روز جهانی خاک را با تأکید بر اهمیت تنوع زیستی خاک و نقش محوری آن در حفظ حیات بر روی کره زمین و تأمین امنیت غذایی و تغذیه گرامی داشت.
آقای گرولد بودِکِر، نماینده فائو در جمهوری اسلامی ایران در سخنانی در جریان مراسم گرامی‌داشت روز جهانی خاک که مشترکا از سوی این سازمان و وزارت جهاد کشاورزی به صورت مجازی امروز دوشنبه برگزار شد، تأکید کرد که کیفیت و سلامت خاک تا حد زیادی تعیین‌کننده تولید و پایداری کشاورزی، و کیفیت زیست‌محیطی بوده و به‌واسطه آن بر سلامت گیاهان، حیوانات و انسان اثر می‌گذارد.
نماینده فائو با اشاره به این مسئله که «بهبود تنوع زیستی خاک اهمیتی حیاتی در اطمینان حاصل کردن از سلامت خاک و همچنین آینده امنیت غذایی و تغذیه دارد»، افزود: « خاک‌های سالم و دارای تنوع زیستی، به‌عنوان بزرگترین منبع ذخیره خاکزی کربن، از طریق ذخیره (ترسیب) کربن و کاهش انتشار گازهای گلخانه‌ای در جو زمین، می‌توانند نقش مهمی را در کاهش تأثیرات تغییرات اقلیمی ایفا می‌کنند.»
آقای بوِدِکِر با اشاره به شعار امسال روز جهانی خاک، «خاک را زنده نگه داریم و از تنوع زیستی خاک حفاظت کنیم»، گفت: «ارگانیسم‌های موجود در خاک نه‌تنها انواع خاصی از آلودگی‌ها را تجزیه و یا پاک می‌کنند، بلکه تنوع زیستی موجود در خاک منبعی ضروری از مواد و عناصر شیمیایی و ژنتیکی مورد نیاز برای توسعه داروهای جدید است.»
نماینده فائو تمامی دست‌اندرکاران ملی و بین‌المللی را دعوت کرد تا در کنار هم زمینه تدوین و اجرای سیاست‌ها و برنامه‌هایی را تسهیل کنند که ترویج‌کننده نظام‌های کشاورزی پایدار باشند، توجه ویژه‌ای به تقویت و غنابخشی تنوع‌زیستی خاک داشته باشند، مواد آلی خاک را افزایش دهند و با فقدان و تخریب خاک ناشی از فرسایش بادی و آبی مقابله کنند. آقای بودکر در بخش پایانی سخنان خود بار دیگر تأکید کرد که فائو، به عنوان نهادی پیشروی سازمان ملل متحد در ترویج نظام‌های کشاورزی پایدار، آماده حمایت از کشور برای توسعه و اجرای بیش از پیش شیوه‌های کشاورزی اکولوژیک و تضمین خاک‌های سالم و دارای تنوع زیستی پایدار است.
FAO stands ready to support Iran in taking innovative actions to ensure sustainable healthy biodiverse soils
FAO Representative to the Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms the Organization’s stance to support member countries in developing and adopting policies and programmes promoting sustainable agricultural systems and nurturing soil biodiversity.
۷ December 2020, Tehran – The Representation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Islamic Republic of Iran, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture Jahad (MAJ), commemorates World Soil Day 2020, underscoring the prominence of Soil Biodiversity and its central role in sustaining the life on Earth and securing food and nutrition security.
At the virtual event co-hosted today, Monday, by FAO and MAJ, the FAO Representative to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Gerold Bödeker, highlights how the quality and health of soils to a large extent determine agricultural production and sustainability, environmental quality and consequently affects plants, animals and human health.
“Improving soil biodiversity is vital to ensuring soil health and future food and nutrition security,” emphasised FAO Representative, adding “Healthy biodiverse soils, as the largest store of terrestrial carbon, play an important role in climate change mitigation by carbon sequestration and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere.”
Mentioning this year’s theme of World Soil Day 2020 – Keep Soil Alive, Protect Soil Biodiversity – Mr Bödeker added that “soil organisms not only can break down or clean up certain types of pollution but also soil biodiversity is an essential source of the chemical and genetic resources that are required for the development of new medicines.”
FAO Representative urges all national and international stakeholders to join the hands to facilitate the development and implementation of policies and programmes that promote sustainable agricultural systems, dedicate great care to nurturing soil biodiversity, increase soil organic matter content, and combat loss of soil through wind and water erosion.
In his concluding remarks, Mr Bödeker reiterated that FAO, as the lead UN agency promoting sustainable agricultural systems, stands ready to support the country to further develop and implement agro-ecological practices to ensuring sustainable healthy biodiverse soils.
